What is House of Consciousness Oslo?

The world is facing a meta-crisis.

Across mental health, politics, information, economics, sustainability, and ecology, we see many separate crises — but they share a common root.

That root is consciousness.

We are operating with limited models of what consciousness is, and therefore limited assumptions about what it means to be human. At the same time, we lack practical awareness — of our inner lives, our values, our choices, our patterns of consumption, and our responsibility toward one another and the living systems we depend on.

House of Consciousness Oslo (HOC) exists because consciousness is not a side issue — it is the foundation issue.

HOC OSLO is a platform and meeting place dedicated to exploring consciousness from multiple perspectives: scientific, philosophical, contemplative, psychological, and cultural. Our aim is not belief, ideology, or spirituality for its own sake, but clear inquiry grounded in evidence, experience, and dialogue.

We bring together researchers, practitioners, leaders, and the public through:
  • Lectures and conversations
  • Embodied and contemplative practices
  • Interdisciplinary conferences
  • Applied research and education

The purpose is simple, yet demanding: to update how we understand consciousness, and to translate that understanding into wiser individual and collective action.

If we want healthier minds, more resilient societies, and a sustainable future, we must address consciousness directly.

HOC OSLO exists to help make that conversation rigorous, accessible, and unavoidable.
